In Põlvamaa county, in south-Estonia, set in solitude in virgin nature, we offer this traditional Estonian dwelling, where the charms of by-gone times are preserved but with a modern touch added. The house was carefully renovated in year 2000. There is a kitchen/room with firewood heating and one bedroom. In the kitchen/room, there are two single beds (one can easily be moved to the bedroom). The bedroom has a wide bed, not quite wide enough to call it a double bed, but still enough for two slim people who like each other, or two children. In the kitchen, there’s a small fridge. Water must be fetched in a bucket from the natural spring 100 meters from the house and can be heated in the electric kettle or on the firewood stove. Outdoors privy, no wc.
In the garden, there are garden-furniture and barbeque. For those who appreciate privacy, this is a wonderful place to spend a holiday, the nearest neighbour is some 500 meters away. The garden is surrounded by a cute fence. Around the house is virgin nature of great beauty with forests and fields and a small river just 500 meters from the house. For a larger store, you must go some 10 km to Mooste village, but there is a small local store for basic supplies just 3 km from the house.
You find really great places to go for a swim at the shores of the great lake Peipus (through which runs Estonia’s border to Russia), some 30 km away and 8 km away at Mooste lake. There are several little towns and villages to visit nearby, for instance Tartu and Räpina. The manor of Mooste is also worth a visit and there are many other worthwhile sights in the area.
Privacy, peace and quiet, birds’ song and a nostalgic feeling is what you get here – if you’re prepared to sacrifice some of your everyday comforts, you will surely enjoy staying here.
If you are actually 5-6 people, you will get permission to bring your tent too.
